1 March - Recess
The Sunraysia Golf Club will have a recess for the ramainder of the year. We will look at recommencing in December depending on several options that may be available at that time.

Renmark Trip October 21
The Sunraysia Golf Club will be taking a bus to Renmark Golf Club on Sunday October 21. It promises to be a great day with a few surprises and plenty of frivolity. (The trip is almost booked out) Steve Hopgood who finished up with our company last Saturday (to begin a new career as an accountant) will host the day. Steve had worked with us for almost 5 years and had been a very popular member of our staff and with our customers during that time. Steve and Monica are expecting their 3rd child in November.

Footy Tipping - Joe Dent Wins
Joe Dent is the 2007 winner of the Sunraysia Golf Club footy tipping and wins a $1000 voucher to Sunraysia Golf Factory. Joe was on the ball with 119 winners and led for the last 15 weeks of the competition. Steve Spooner was only 3 behind with a creditable 116 and wins a Precept Golf Bag. NZ'er Sean Turnbull wins a pair of Adidas golf shoes for finishing 25th.

Footy Tipping - Round 21 - Joe In The Box Seat
The penultimate round of the year was completed with most tipsters only scoring average numbers with plenty of hauls of 5 winners. Joe Dent although only tipping 4 winners has surrended 1 win from his lead but appears home, still leading by 3. Steve Spooner is the only danger but could only pick up 1 on the leader tipping 5 winners this round, Spoons is having to look over his shoulder whilst chasing Joe as there are 4 tipsters just 2 behind him in the race for second spot. Barring a major turnaround it appears Joe will take out this years competition and he deserves it as he has lead for over half the year. In saying that as the old adage goes it ain't over till the fat lady sings but it seems as though she is clearing her throat right at this moment. The fight for 25th spot will go right down to the wire with Sean Turnbull currently holding the spot on a countback from Michael Quinn with a couple of others circling around. West Coasts 8 point margin was not chosen from Friday Nights game and the tip 8 was not threatened, hopefully the last round will see some weekly prizes go off. Good Luck to all tipsters going into the final round.

Footy Tipping - Round 20 Results - Dent Extends Lead
He has been the leader of the competition for the majority of the season and it appears he will not be run down, Joe Dent continues to be on top of the leaderboard with 2 rounds to go in the 2007 Sunraysia Golf Club AFL tipping competition. It is by no means a foregone conclusion, however he now leads by 4 winners and unless something special happens he will win and no doubt deserve the accolades. Joe is currently on 108 winners after tipping 5 on the weekend from Steve Spooner on 104 with a trio of players just behind him on 102, looking to fight out 2nd spot. Round 20 produced few winners by most entrants with the best being 6 winners and the lowest being 2 which was quite common. Michael Quinn is currently in 25th spot on a countback from Sean Turnbull on 81 winners, anything could happen here in the final 2 rounds with many people around the mark to win the adidas golf shoes. Collingwood's 11 point margin on Friday night against Melbourne was not chosen and the tip 8 was never threatened. With 2 rounds to go good luck to all those in contention for prizes and those who aren't be sure to try your luck at the margin or pick 8 for the chance to win some Taylor Made golf balls.

Footy Tipping - Round 19 Results - Spoons Lapping Up The Lead
A new main danger has emerged to leader Joe Dent after the completion of round 19. Steve "Spoons" Spooner has sailed has way into 2nd spot after raising the bat with 100 winners, he still however trails the leader Joe Dent by 3 wins with 3 rounds remaining. Joe is currently on 103 winners and has had the lead for the vast majority of the competition, can he get to the finish line though? Spoons has been the big mover averaging 6 winners over the past 7 weeks including that same amount this week, moving from 4th to 2nd. It does appear a two horse race unless their is a fall at the final hurdle so to speak. Glen Stephen is still a rough outsider in 3rd spot but the winning prize appears out of reach but he could still sneak into 2nd place, it augers well for the final 3 weeks of the competition, who will hold their nerve? The fight for 25th place is tight with Michael Quinn, Sean Turnbull, Tim Green and James Perry all on 79 wins, James holds the spot on a countback at the moment, a real close tussle. No weekly round winner and margin with Richmond upsetting Collingwood, although a handful of tipsters picked this, the margin was not successful, no tip 8 was achieved either with Tim Knight getting the closest with 7 wins. Good luck with the final 3 rounds as things really heat up.

Footy Tipping - Round 18 Results - Lead DENTed
All in all a pretty tough round to find winners with a draw and a couple of upset results throwing the cat amongst the pigeons. None more so than our leader Joe Dent who has had his lead cut in half to just 3 after tipping only that amount this round, he currently sits on 98 winners. The two big movers were Ian Fawcett who jumps to outright 2nd on 95 after tipping an impressive 6 winners with Glen Stephen also picking up a couple on the leader tipping 5 for the round, he is outright 3rd on 94 winners. Just behind these guys is Steve Spooner who is outright 4th on 93 winners, it is apparent the winner will come from these 4, but Dent still has a 3 win lead and is the man to catch even after a slight hiccup. James Perry is now the man in 25th spot on 74 wins on a countback with a better 2nd half of the year so far, he has one hand on the golf shoes at the moment. No margin or tip 8 were won this round.

Sunraysia Golf Club Championship 2007 - August 19th RedCliffs Golf Club
We have now entered the month of August and this means the staging of the 3rd Annual Sunraysia Golf Club Championship to be held at RedCliffs Golf Club on Sunday 19th. This is one of the few events we play as an 18 hole stroke format with handicap divisions dependent on numbers playing. It will be a fantastic day had by all including bacon and egg breakfast, BBQ lunch, 18 holes of golf and some fantastic prizes for the various winners and NTP's. Each player will also receive a bottle of wine with their entry fee, proudly donated by McGuigans wines and we must thank Tim Green for his support with this. All this is included in your entry fee of $25, super value. A drinks cart will be organised for the day with beer, spirits and soft drink available for purchase. It will be a fantastic and fun day so be sure to enter and come along and join in as it is YOUR club. More information will be sent out in your monthly mail-out which you will receive next week.

Footy Tipping - Round 17 Results - Winners Galore
Plenty of winners were the story for last weekends matches in Round 17 of the Sunraysia Golf Club tipping competition, only 2 tipsters got under 5 winners, well done to all. The leader Joe Dent continues to have a stranglehold on the competition with just 5 rounds left, he currently sits on 95 winners after a great effort tipping 7 winners this round. Dent leads by 6 from a tight tussle for 2nd prize, being a precept golf bag, with Glen Stephen and Ian Fawcett (last years winner), currently neck and neck on 89 winners with up to half a dozen tipsters breathing down their necks. With just 5 rounds to go their are still plenty of prizes up for grabs including the fight for 25th spot and a pair of adidas golf shoes to the winner, Cade Knights is that man at the moment but this is likely to fluctuate over the closing rounds. Don't forget to keep your margin coming in for the Friday night game and still a chance to win prizes for the tip 8. Unfortunately given the great results nobody tipped 8 this week, (lot's of 5's and 6's), and the huge margin of 70 odd points by West Coast on Friday was never threatened.

Footy Tipping - Round 16 Results - Leaders Continue Good Form
If you are behind the leading pack it seems a tough task to close the gap with the top 8 all tipping well, none better than the leader Joe Dent who extended his lead further by tipping 7 winners. Dent leads on 88 winners, now 5 ahead of Glen Stephen and Steve Spooner on 83 winners, with Ian Fawcett and Graham Eddie, who would be ruing the 1 winner he had in the first round, they are both on 82 winners. Dent appears hard to run down, however bigger men than him have applied the chocker hold and with 6 rounds left it is still game on. It may be that the challengers have to tip a few upsets here and there and roll the dice as I would expect Joe to remain fairly conservative with his tipping in the final rounds with such a big lead. The race for 25th spot is still anyones game with three tipsters on 66 Tim Green, Cade Knights and Sean Turnbull, if a tie is still apparent after 22 rounds as is the case with other prizes, it will be a countback to the most winners for the second half of the season. There was no tip 8 winners and nobody got near the huge 75 point margin by the rampaging Geelong over the doggies on Friday night. Good luck for tipping in round 17 with just 6 rounds left, game on.

Footy Tipping - Round 15 Results - Dent Consolidates Lead
Joe Dent has hit back at all comers with a great round of 7 winners from round 15 played on the weekend. He has broken out to a 4 win lead again on 81 from Steve Spooner and Glen Stephen on 77 winners, with several tipsters on 75 wins with seven rounds to go. Tim Green is currently on track to win the golf shoes in 25th place at the moment. Their was no margin or tip 8 winners in this round, keep the tips rolling in for your chance to win some great prizes.

Footy Tipping - Round 14 Results
Overall another solid round of tipping by most especially the leading contenders who have consolidated their lead from the middle pack. Although still leading Joe Dent's margin has been cut to just 2 winners, he still has the lead in the home straight with eight rounds left, he is currently on 74 winners. Ron Fernandez continues his consistent year remaining in equal second place alongside Glen Stephen who has moved back up the leaderboard on 72 winners. Ian Fawcett, Graham Eddie and Steve Spooner are all within 4 of the lead, what a contest. We had two tipsters correctly pick the Friday night margin by Geelong of 50 points, Tim Knight and Tim Green both will receive 3 golf balls each for their troubles, well done guys. Currently 58 winners is the number for the golf shoes at the moment in 25th place with plenty either side, so keep the tips coming for your chance to win a consolation prize. Good luck for round 15, things will start to get interesting now, game on.

Footy Tipping - Round 13 Results
Firstly, sorry for the delay in posting the results, I have been away, but the results are now updated for you to check your progress. What a great round of tipping for the majority of people involved in the competition, it was much needed by most after some lean weeks beforehand. We also crowned our first pick 8 winner in the lucky Round 13. In the lead we still see Joe Dent out in front by 3 on 69 winners, from Ron Fernandez and the big mover Steve Spooner on 66 winners with plenty nipping at their heels. Steve Spooner and Geoff Quinn both tipped 8 winners for the first time in the competition after 13 weeks, the countback going to Steve who tipped the closest margin. He wins 3 Taylor Made golf balls which can be picked up from Sunraysia Golf Factory, keep the winners coming.

Footy Tipping - Round 12 (Split Round)
The nightmare results continued in Round 12, with upsets by Richmond and Saint Kilda and big wins by Hawthorn and Collingwood, throwing a spanner in the works for most tipsters. We had just 4 people tip more than 4 winners for the round so although the leaders have faltered, the gaps have not really closed. Joe Dent still has a handy 3 win lead on 63, but we have a new person in second place, Ron Fernandez who is on 60 with the early leader of the competition Glen Stephen dropping back into third place on 59 winners. There are a host of tipsters within 5 of the lead so it is still anyones game. The margin of a huge 100 points by Hawthorn on the Friday game was not challenged, although two tipsters did chosse an 80 point margin, so they were not far off the mark. I have a feeling that the 8 winners might go off this weekend after a few tough rounds prior. Keep the tips coming in as the fight for 25th place is still a keen affair and don't give up hope of the big prize just yet. Good tipping and let's hope round 13 is a lucky one for all.

Footy Tipping - Round 11 Results
What a nightmare round for the majority of tipsters in Round 11, with only one player getting more than 4 in the top ten and only 7 got more than 4 winners in the whole competition. Although only getting 4 winners, Joe Dent still has the lead by 4 on 60 winners from Glen Stephen and Ron Fernandez on 56 winners. The best effort for the week was Sean Turnbull who tipped 6 winners, the only one to do so, he is still a long way off the pace. No weekly winners again with Essendon upsetting the Eagles by 1 point, not many picked the bombers at all apart from the die hard supporters like Ron Fernandez. Good Luck, next round is a split round over 2 weeks, selections can be done by first game of each weekend for the 4 games.

Footy Tipping - Round 10 Results
With a few minor upsets in round 10 of the AFL footy tipping, we saw a very average performance by most tipsters, 3 winners was around par for the course. The leader Joe Dent was on the ball again tipping 6 winners and breaking out to a 4 win lead on 56, with Glen Stephen and Ron Fernandez in second place on 52 winners each. The other big mover for the week was Ian Riordan who also tipped 6 winners and jumped 10 places to equal 10th on 47 winners. Once again nobody chose the margin of 9 points in favour of Collingwood on Friday night and the tip 8 is still proving elusive, keep the tips and margins coming in as I'm sure it is only a matter of time until these prizes are won.

New Leader In Footy Tipping - Round 9
After being in fornt since round 2 Glen Stephen has given up his no 1 spot to Joe Dent, who now has a two win lead on 50 after tipping 6 winners in round 9. Joe has been very consistent all year and will certainly be hard to run down, although there is a long way to go. Other notable movers over the last few weeks have been Graham Eddie and Dean Smith both just 5 off the pace with Ian Fawcett continuing his good run, now in equal 2nd with Glen Stephen on 48 winners. Still no 8 winners yet which is a huge surprise, I'm sure someone will crack it shortly. The margin for Fremantle by 46 points on Friday was not chosen, with the closest being 43 points. Good Luck for Round 10

RedCliffs This Sunday
Don't forget members that this Sunday 27th May will see the Sunraysia Golf Club monthly golf day being held at RedCliffs, with tee-off at 9.00am. This month we hope to play a 4BBB aggregate stableford depending on numbers, so make sure you book in by this Friday 25th for a great relaxing day.

Footy Tipping - Round 8 Results
Winners galore for tipsters this week with almost everyone (who put their tips in that is), getting between 5 and 7 winners with all the home teams saluting, that's really bad news for the three who forgot to lodge their tips, a big fat zero for them. We now have joint leaders at the top with Joe Dent joining Glen Stephen on top of the leaderboard with 44 winners, two ahead of George Meszoly on 42. The 8 winners is still proving elusive, with nine people tipping 7, most missing on St Kilda. The margin of 9 points on Friday night in favour of Adelaide was not even threatened, with most people tipping huge margins, the hapless Tigers got very close in the end. Sean Turnbull is currently in 25th place and in the running for the golf shoes, but this could change rapidly with 14 rounds to go. Good luck next week where hopefully we may see our first 8 winners.

Footy Tipping - Round 6 Results
Round 6 proved a little tricky for most with 20 entrants tipping 4 or less including the top 4 tipsters, which has bunched the field up even more. The gap is only 5 between the top 20 tipsters with last place only 10 off the lead which can be eroded quickly with a few good weeks. Glen Stephen after tipping just 4 winners has re-established his lead by 1 on 31 winners, which i expect would be a surprise to him. Glen leads from Ron Fernandez, Ian Fawcett and Joe Dent on 30 winners. The two big movers over the last couple of weeks have been Shane Wilmore and Phil Matotek, both tipping 6 winners this week to move within a couple of the leader. Once again nobody got the weekly prizes and we are still looking for that elusive 8 winners. Don't forget to choose your margin for the first game of each round to be eligble for the weekly prizes, this Friday sees the mighty Roos face off against Essendon, happy punting.

Footy Tipping - Round 5 Results
Plenty of winners was the norm amongst the majority of people in Round 5 of tipping, although we had another couple of near misses for that elusive 8 winners with Kristy Green and Craig Kimber getting 7 and soaring up the leaderboard after moderate starts to the year. Things are getting very tight at the top with Glen Stephen sharing the lead on 27 winners with Ron Fernandez, they are closely followed by Ian Fawcett and Joe Dent on 26 winners. The competition is getting very close albeit in the early stages with 18 people within 5 winners of the leading pair, it's anyones game so to speak. Once again we had no weekly winners, but keep those margins and tips coming in as it is only a matter of time before these weekly prizes go off. Good luck and successful tipping for round 6.

FOOTY TIPPING - ROUND 4 RESULTS
Round 4 saw a very consistent round without any standouts or shockers, 6 was the best with 3 the worst. The leading totals for the round were achieved by Ron Fernandez, George Meszoly and Tim Knight on 6 winners. Ron continues his impressive start, George is gradually warming up and Tim well he has gone from boiled lollies to chocolates. Glen Stephen for the third week in a row, retains his lead on 23 but the challenges are nipping at his heels with Ron Fernandez in second place on 22 and Ian Fawcett on 21 winners. There were no weekly winners with 3 people missing the margin by a mere 1 point, nobody has tipped the elusive 8 winners yet, who will be the first? Don't forget to lodge your first game tips by Wednesday (Anzac Day) with the remaining due before Friday's game, good luck

FOOTY TIPPING - ROUND 3 RESULTS
Plenty of winners were the norm in Round 3 with the average being 5 winners, nobody managed to get that elusive 8 but 3 people managed an impressive 7 winners to help them climb up the leaderboard. The leader after round 3 is Glen Stephen who had another good week tipping 6 winners for a total of 18 but he is closely followed by Joe Dent, Ron Fernandez and last years winner Ian Fawcett all on 16. Although nobody picked 8, Michael "Red" Blackburn managed to pick Collingwood and the margin of 25 points in the first game and for that he wins 6 Taylor Made golf balls worth $30, well done Redman.

FOOTY TIPPING - ROUND 2 RESULTS
Round 2 results showed a marginal improvement on round 1 with two people tipping 7 winners, Glen Stephen and Ian Riordan. Glen Stephen is also the current leader on 12 winners from round 1 leader Shane Wilmore on 11 and Joe Dent on 10 winners. No weekly prizes were won and all scores are now updated on the footy tipping link.

FOOTY TIPPING - ROUND 1 RESULTS
As usual in the early part of each season, the winners are harder to pick than a broken nose, round 1 was no exception. The average score for the round was just 3, so if you had a shocker like a lot of us did, don't despair, you were not alone, with 6 winners being the best for the round. Shane Wilmore was the tipster of the week with 6 winners and he is out in front from 4 people on 5 winners which include, Kristy Green, Joe Dent, Cade Knights and Glen Stephen. Their were no weekly winners as nobody picked St Kilda to win by 31 points, don't forget to give your margin on the first game of each round to be eligible for the weekly prize of 6 golf balls. THE FULL LEADERBOARD WILL BE UPDATED NEXT WEEK AS OUR WEBSITE TECHNICIAN IS AWAY.

AFL FOOTY TIPPING COMPETITION - PRIZE UPDATE
This year saw 32 people enter the competition which is a little down on our target of 50, however we will still have a keenly contested event. The prizes will remain as $1000 VOUCHER and a PRECEPT GOLF BAG for 1st and 2nd respectively and a pair a ADIDAS GOLF SHOES for 25th place, weekly prizes will remain the same. On the weekly competition, don't forget your margin for the first game of each round to be eligible for these prizes. DUE TO OUR WEBSITE TECHNICIAN BEING AWAY, THE COMPLETE LEADERBOARD WILL BE UPDATED BY ROUND 2.

AUSTRALIAN SOCIAL GOLF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS
Eight Sunraysia Golf Club members played in the Australian Social Golf Clubs Championship at Palm Meadows on the Gold Coast. We now have the A Grade and C Grade Australian Social Golf Clubs champions with Clinton Mayes winning A Grade by three points and Glen Stephen winning C Grade by eight points. Clinton and Glen have now won free entry into the Tournament for next year. All other competitors have already started planning their trip for next year after an enjoyable holiday playing on a testing but enjoyable golf course that rates up with the best golf courses in Australia. In the teams event Sunraysia B consisting of Clinton Mayes, Paul White, Deb Fawcett and Ashley Davis lead after days one, two and three but after with a wind blowing up and all four players having the extra pressure of playing in a seeded group on the final day narrowly missed out by one shot. The team’s format was the best three scores out of a four person team were taken each day. So after nine scores were totaled at the end of the tournament, to come second by one shot left all members of that team going through their rounds to work out where they could have picked that one shot up for their team. The Sunraysia B team after starting very slowly with scores of 32, 32 and 22 and giving up a 20 point lead came home strong to be only three points behind at the end of the tournament. Overall the week was an overwhelming success, with a package put together by the organisers that was fantastic value for money. If you are looking at going on a holiday next year, would like to play four rounds of golf in carts at a top class golf course then start thinking about this tournament, it is well worth the trip. Don't forget you will be representing your Sunraysia Golf Club at the same time.

TIM GREEN WINS FOOTY TIPPING
The weekend saw the completion of the home and away season and the Sunraysia Golf Club footy tipping competition for 2005. The winner was Tim Green, who proved to hard to run down once he hit the lead. Tim tipped 117 winners, a great effort and he wins a $500 voucher to the Sunraysia Golf Factory. In second place on 114 winners was George Meszoly who wins a $200 voucher. Third place was a tight affair with Ronald Arnold, Ray Miles, Tim Knight and Darren Bray all tipping 111 winners, as the rules stated in the event of a tie, a countback would be conducted from the final half of the season. This made Darren Bray the winner and he will collect a $100 voucher, Darren also won the aggregate for the final six rounds, tipping 37 winners and wins a srixon golf shirt for that. Bad luck to the other three who missed out, you can have your revenge next year. The winners will be presented their respective prizes at our September golf day at Red Cliffs on the 25th. We hope you enjoyed the tipping comp for 2005 and we will do it all again, bigger and better in 2006.

FOOTY TIPPING LEADERS - AFTER ROUND 20
The footy tipping after round 20 sees Tim Green still leading on 107 wins, four ahead of George Meszoly on 103 wins, the fight for third place is fierce with 4 people on 99 wins, Darren Bray, Ronald Arnold, Ray Miles and Glen Norris.
